SeaKeepers Board of Directors Meeting, La Jolla, CA

In April the SeaKeepers Board of Directors met on the campus of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography (SIO), in La Jolla, CA. Along with a Board Meeting, we also hosted a reception at SIO to welcome our newest SeaKeepers, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Herbst, and to reconnect with existing members who make their home in the San Diego area. Special thanks goes to Board Member Patty Elkus for her role in coordinating what turned out to be a wonderful event.

SIO was a fitting venue for
our meeting, as they are our partner in the California Coastal
Monitoring Project (CCMP). The CCMP is a joint effort between Scripps
and SeaKeepers that will create an unprecedented instrumentation
network for coastal monitoring. The goal of this network is to
generate relevant, real-time data for scientists at SIO to use in their
ongoing research to help preserve our ocean environment. For more
